Annual Report 2017 – 18
Today, 1st December 2017, is the Annual day of Smt. Chandrabhaga Tukoba Naik Higher Secondary school, Curchorem. With great pride, I want to share with you the success of our institution and the experience in achieving them. I feel extremely proud and honoured to present the Annual Report of our activities for the academic year 2017-18.
Here is the glimpse of our activities and achievements:
The result of std XII in Goa Board examination of March 2017 in all four streams has been excellent. It is 82% in Arts, 98.96% in Commerce, 91.5% in Science and 74.5% in Vocational section.
Out of 355 students, 314 have been successful bringing the overall percentage of passing to 88.45%. There are 45 distinctions, 144 first classes and 120 second classes and the remaining in pass class.
Our Toppers are:
1) Miss. Rebecca Diniz – 91.66% in Arts
2) Mast. Shanbhag Sarth Nagraj – 87.50% in Commerce
3) Mast.Kapil R. Shenvi Pause – 86.66% in Science
4) Mast. Shaikh Ayetesham Mainullah – 86.13% in Mreeda
5) Miss. Badiger Kshama Jagadish – 85.62% in OSS
6) Mast. Sadarsh D. Azgaonkar – 71.50% in A.A.
Miss. Rebecca Diniz and Mast. Shanbhag Sarth Nagraj stood first in the Curchorem Centre in Arts and Commerce streams respectively.
I congratulate all the distinction holders and meritorious students and their proud parents for their outstanding performance and bringing laurels to the institution.
The pledge of C.T.N. is all-round development of our students. Our aim is to pursue not only excellence in academics but also cultural values, sports, social service,health ,ethics and so on. CTN students set the best example for all the above mentioned qualities.
The cultural activities of the academic year 2017-18, commenced with the Diksha Samarambh on 19th June 2017. NSS and YRC Oath Taking Ceremony was held on the same day.
The Second International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June, in collaboration with NSS unit. YOG GURU Mr. Navnath Sawant demonstrated Yogasanas and highlighted the importance of yoga in day-to-day life.
P.T.A AGM was held on 25th June, at Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem. All the toppers and distinction holders of std. XII at the Board Exam. were felicitated at the hands of Guest Speaker Dr. Narayan Dessai, the retired Principal of S. S. Angle Hr. Sec. School, Mashem. The parents and teachers were addressed on the topic “Role of parents in the life of the Children”.
A talk on Adolescence Issues was organised on 30th June for Girls by Mrs. Melisa Fernandes, School Counselor and on 18th July for Boys by Counselor, Mr. Pavan Kiran Kittur.
Students of Std. XI Sci were taken to Margao Railway Station for Innovative Mobile Science exhibition organised by Dept. Of Science and Technology on 12th July.
Curchorem Super School Complex- I AGM was held on 26th July. Dr. Pratima Patil was the resource person.
Individual Song Singing Competition was held on 26th July.The winners of this competition were Miss. Fernandes Cifa-1st prize, Miss. Mandrekar Siya – 2nd prize,
Miss. Raut Sunidhi – 3rd prize & Mast. Kamat Abhishek, Miss. Naik Sejal and Miss. Kare Sanskruti won consolation prizes.
31st Foundation Day of our School was celebrated on 1st Aug.. Shree Satyanarayan Maha Pooja was performed by Mrs. Arundati & Mr. Anil Jathar.
Dr. Nandkumar Sawant, Principal of Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao was the Chief Guest. The Annual School Magazine “Utkarsh” was released and the meritorious students of std. XI were felicitated.
Group Patriotic Song Singing Competition was organized on 14th Aug.. The students of Std. XI Sci. B, XII Sci. A and XII Arts B won the first three prizes. The consolation prize was shared by XI Sci. A and XI Arts A.
71st Independence Day was celebrated on15th Aug. with Patriotic Fervor. National Tri Colour Flag was unfurled by the Chief Guest Shri. Sakharam Velguekar, retired Head Master of Sarvodaya Education Society’s High School, Curchorem.
C.T.N. Red Ribbon Club in association with Y.R.C.conducted Health Nutrition Programme organised by “Nestle India Ltd.” In association with College of Home Science Panaji from 16th to 22nd Aug.
The Teachers Day was celebrated on 5th September with full zeal and enthusiasm in association with PTA. Dr. Louis Vernal,Retd.Principal of G.V.M’s Dr. Dada Vaidya College of Education,Ponda was the Chief Guest. Mrs. Prasanna Chandran of The New Educational Institute, Curchorem was felicitated for her outstanding contribution in the field of education. C.T.N.P.T.A. honoured all the subject teachers along with those who secured 100% result in HSSC Examination of March 2017.
Saraswati Pooja was performed on 28th Sept. by Higher Secondary School in association with High School.
Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti was celebrated along with Shramdan on 2nd oct.
C.T.N. Red Ribbon Club organised Magic show on 15th Nov.to bring awareness on AIDS. The resource person was Dr.Mohanrao Dessai,Health Officer Curchorem.
Haemoglobin Level Test was conducted for 170 girl students in collaboration with Inner Club Curchorem on 17th Nov.
Consumer Welfare Club in collaboration with Vocational Guidance Cell & PTA organized a talk on GST by Shri Pradeep Kakodkar,C.A. on 17th November for the students of Commerce & Vocational streams.
Career Guidance was organised on 23rd November for the students of Std. XII by Mr. Jaki Joseph from K.L.E’s Ankola, Karnataka.
CTN PTA organised All Goa Inter Higher Secondary Debate Competition on 27th November .The winners were students of G.V.M’S S.N.J.A. Higher Secondary School, Ponda. The Runners were students of Deep Vihar Higher Secondary School,Vasco. The Best Speaker Trophy was bagged by Miss Gayatri Kadam of G.V.M’S S.N.J.A. Higher Secondary School, Ponda.
Inter class quiz competition was conducted on 28th Nov. 2017. Mast. Chinmay Mone, Mast. Chetan Dessai and Mast.Sanish P. Naik of class XII Sci. A. were the winners. Miss. Kalpita Mayekar, Miss. Kavita Datta and Miss Akshada Choudak of XII Arts B were the runners.
Swamiji Chidrupanandaji, Acharya, Chinmay Mission, Noida addressed the students yesterday i.e.on 30th November on the topic “Potential to Performance”.
One of the prominent features of our school is Educational Tour. 55 students accompanied by 7 members of staff went to Hyderabad during Diwali Vacation.
Our Excellent Performance in Outside Participation:
1. Miss Gulsumbi Kasim Bagewadi of XII Commerce won the Best leadership Award in Student Oriented Program conducted by Goa Multi-Faculty College, Darbandoda.
2. Miss Apurva V. Naik and Miss Sushmita S. Mane of XI Arts won 2nd and 3rd prize respectively in All Goa Elocution Competition on G.S.T. conducted by Gomantak Maratha Bhasha Mandal, Ponda Goa.
3. Mast.Raj Mandrekar & Group won the 2nd prize in Inter Higher Secondary Ghumat Arti Competition at Institute of Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji conducted by Prudent Media. The same Group won consolation prize conducted by Dayanand Golden Jubilee Year Celebration Committee at Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem.
4. Miss Shubhada Patil of XI Sci.B won
1st prize in District Level Goa Pradesh Sane Guruji Kathamala Competition.
2nd prize in Elocution Competition conducted by Radha Mukund Nayak Memorial elocution competition organized by Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Margao.
5th prize in Krishnanath Baburao Naik Memorial elocution competition, Margao.
5. Along with Miss Shubhada Patil, , Rutuja got the 3rd & Manisha got 5th prize in District Level Goa Pradesh Sane Guruji Kathamala Competition. All three of them are qualified for State Level Competition to be held in December.
6. Miss Komal V. Hadimani of XI Sci A won
2nd prize in Extempore Speech Competition at Zonal Level held at Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem organised by Dept. Of Youth affairs on 28th Nov.
Consolation prize in All Goa Inter Higher Secondary Elocution Competition on “Demonetisation” conducted by Marshel Kalapremee.
7. Our Higher Secondary got 2nd prize in Fashion Show and Miss. Sanjana Naik got 2nd prize in Shoe Painting in All Goa Inter Higher Secondary Competition conducted by Yuva Rang, Ponda, Goa on 24th Nov.
8. Mast. Abhishek Kamat of XI Sci.A won 1st prize in Guitar Playing Competition held at Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem organised by Dept. Of Youth affairs on 29th Nov.
Eight students added two more feathers to our crown of success
Miss Savi Shripad Marathe is honoured with a trophy and certificate from Dnyan Raj Saunstha, Mumbai for her outstanding performance in Dramatics which took place in Pune. She is also qualified for National Level Performance to be held on 9th Dec. in Delhi.
A silent Movie is produced by our students. The team consisting of Mast. Yash Vaz(Director), Miss Audrey S. Pires (story writer), Mast.Arjun Shirodkar(Editor), Mast.Prathamesh P. Sawardekar(actor) and 3 actresses Miss Anisha Naik, Miss Radhika Samai and Miss Sneha Patil after attending a workshop in “Short Film Making” in Aug. The same will be uploaded on YouTube.

NSS unit was inaugurated on 19th June 2017.
Second International Yoga Day was observed on 21st June.Shri Navnath B. Sawant was the yog guru who demonstrated pranayama and asanas.
Vanamahotsav was celebrated on 21st July . Shri. Damodar Prakash Salelkar, R.F.O. was the Chief Guest.
Swatch Bharat Pakhwara was undertaken from 1st to 15th Aug.
Group Patriotic Song Singing Competition was organized on 14th Aug..
Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti was featured with Shramdan.
Rally against drug abuse & illicit trafficking.
A team of 58 volunteers participated in the safety week Programme conducted by the Curchorem Traffic Police Cell.
A team of 60 volunteers participated in a programme on Organ Donation at Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem, conducted by Rotary Club, Curchorem in association with I.M.I of Goa Branch.
Annual Residential Camp will be organised in Kalem during Christmas break.
As usual tournaments for boys and girls were conducted in Badminton, Chess T.T, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volley ball, Cricket, Athletic Events. We also participated at Zonal, State and National level.
Zonal Level Achievement
Our boys Badminton team consisting of Mast. Divyesh Sirsat of XI com.A, Mast. Ritesh Naik of XI Arts B, Mast. Imran Mulla and Mast. Rohit Kalmani of XII Com. B and Mast. Yash Verlekar of XII Sci. B is Winners at Zonal Level Inter Higher Secondary Badminton Boys and Runners up at Inter Zone Level.
Our Team consisting of Mast.Shub Borkar, Mast. Kuldeep Dessai, Mast. Parixit Naik, Mast. Kaushik Phaldessai of XII Sci. and Mast.Shubham Sawant of XI Com. Are Runners Up at Zone IV Inter Higher Secondary Chess Tournament.
Miss Ravina Nalkar,Miss Divya Modak,Miss Anchala Gadkar,Miss Isha Naik and Miss Sanjana Naik secured 3rd place at Zonal level.
Girls Volleyball team got 3rd place at Zonal Level.
Our boys team comprising of Mast. Bhaskar Gain, Mast. Mihir Naik,Mast. Avinash Gaonkar,Mast.Ravindra Gaonkar and Mast.Raj Mandrekar and our girls team comprising of Miss Sapna Bhavdhan, Miss Samiksha Mairekar, Miss Avisha Velip and Miss Cifa Fernandes are selected in Athletic Events at District Level.
State Level Achievement
Mast. Hatray Pednekar ,Mast.Vishal Gaonkar,Mast. Nehal Dessai,l Mast. Krishna Sawant Dessai and Mast. Avinash Gaonkar stood 3rd at State Level Swimming Competition.
Our Girls Badminton Team comprising of Miss Komal Hadimani, Miss Arya Mhalnekar, Miss Sambhavi Narvekar, Miss Shruti Patil and Miss Vrundi Naik was the Winner at Zonal Level, Runners up at District Level & 4th place at State level.
Our Cricket team is Runners Up at 12th Goa State Junior Tennis Ball Cricket Championship at Ponda
Mast. Somesh Govli of XI Sci. B, Mast. Siddhart Mhadale of XII sci B, Miss Sapna Gaonkar of XII Arts A, Miss Pooja Patil of XII Arts B, Miss Manjita Gauns Dessai of XI Arts and Miss Simran Padelkar of XI Sci. A got selected at state level Squay Martial Art.
National Level Participation
Miss Ravina Nalkar of XI Arts B participated in Junior National Tchoukball in Andhra Pradesh and won Gold Medal.
Miss Ravina Nalkar of XI Arts B and Miss Shreya Naik of XI Arts A represented Goa State team in Tchoukball in Assam and won Gold Medal.
Mast. Amogh Gawas of XII sci B has participated in 63rd national school games 2017 – 18 in swimming (400mts Individual Madly) , Delhi and won 4th place.
